The Counselors In Training program is an internship where individuals are selected to assist with younger age groups in Field Institute of Taos camps. C.I.T. applicants must have previous experience as "campers" in our programs and must be at least 11 years old. Applicants should have a high level of enthusiasm, a strong commitment, and the ability to work with groups of children. C.I.T.s, once selected, are required to attend a one day training prior to beginning work (Wednesday May 28 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.). This training will cover rules, safety, and suggestions and will include C.I.T.s, Junior Counselors and other staff. We plan to have two C.I.T.s for each week of each session. C.I.T.s will gain valuable experience in leadership, teaching, and teamwork. Each C.I.T. will receive a "letter of reference" upon the completion of their volunteer work, if desired.

This summer we expect to hire three paid Junior Counselors (ages 14 and up). Individuals with past C.I.T. experience will have priority in the hiring process. Each Junior Counselor will work for four weeks with ages ranging from six through 15 years old. Junior Counselor positions are for highly motivated individuals with a talent for working with young people. Junior Counselors are required to attend a one day training prior to beginning work (Wednesday, May 28 from 4 - 6 p.m.).
